Since many years I am playing a relay system with my regular partner Nikolas Bausback. It is based on MOSCITO, a system developped in New Zealand and Australia. Recently the bridge program GIB won the world computer championships using a variation of MOSCITO.
To conform with the regulations of the German Bridge Federation we had
to modify the original system considerably, but in our opinion this did
not damage it's efficiency at all. MOSCITO is short for Major Oriented
Strong Club. As expected the general structure of the system focuses on
opener's major suit holding:
1 Club | 15+ HCP, any distribution |
1 Diamond | 9-14 HCP, no 4-card or longer major |
1 Heart | 9-14 HCP, at least 4 hearts, at most 3 spades, may have a longer minor |
1 Spade | 9-14 HCP, at least 4 spades, at most 3 hearts, may have a longer minor |
1 NT | 11-14 HCP, balanced with 4 or 5 spades, possibly 4-4 in the majors |
2 Clubs | 9-14 HCPe, at least 5-4 in the majors |
2 Diamonds | Mini-Multi (weak-two in a major) |
2 Hearts | 9-14 HCP, 5440 or 4441 with exactly 4-4 in the majors |
2 Spades | 0-9 HCP, 5 spades and a 4+ minor |
2 NT | 0-9 HCP, 5 hearts and a 5+ minor or 8 playing tricks in a major (like Namyats) |
